The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room is a formal room dominated by a huge portrait of Anne, Countess of Chesterfield (Mary's great grandmother) and the Hon. Mrs Anson by Sir Frances Grant.  Other portraits decorating the walls include an oval oil of the Countess of Walsingham,  wife of Philip,  fourth  Earl  of Chesterfield by Michael Dahl and another oval of Lady Elizabeth Dormer, wife of Philip, the third Earl, painted by Mary Beale.  The room has a rosewood-cased baby grand piano.  Other items of note include an eighteenth century Spanish Charles IV parcel gilt and mahogany mirror (said to have been made for an English Governor of Menorca) and eighteenth century giltwood pelmets.
